Sept. 2, 2026 - Stories 250 will be at the Flight 93 National Memorial in Shanksville, Pennsylvania on Friday, Sept. 11 to honor the 25th anniversary of the terrorist attacks on the nation. For the past 25 years, Judith Stanford Miller, Stories 250 editor, has covered events in Shanksville as the site was first acquired by the National Park Service and then developed into the Flight 93 National Memorial. The site is solemn ground and a beautiful tribute to the heroic 40 passengers and crew of United Flight 93 who fought valiantly to wrest control of the airplane from the terrorist hijackers. Their target was likely the U.S. Capitol in Washington. The terrorists purposely turned the plane upside down and at a speed of more than 400 miles per hour, crashed the plane in a field in rural Pennsylvania. Few human remains were recovered. Aug. 10, 2026 - On Wednesday, Aug. 12 at 8 p.m. ET, Judith Miller, Stories 250 editor and writer/director of the documentary Crosswinds: The Courageous Life of Cornelia Fort, will be a guest on the Commemorative Air Force's Warbird Tube with Steve Buss, host and EAA announcer. Judith will discuss the documentary, which features the National WASP WWII Museum's 1943 BT-13, the same year and model of the warbird in which Cornelia Fort tragically lost her life following a mid-air collision with another BT-13 near Merkel, Texas on March 21, 1943. Leslie Sargent, retired FAA Aviation Safety Inspector and Crosswinds aviation consultant, is featured in Crosswinds with an in-depth analysis of the crash. Aug. 8, 2026 - Following the screening of Crosswinds: The Courageous Life of Cornelia Fort on Wednesday, July 22 at the EAA AirVenture in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, the 90- minute documentary is now available for streaming at the Crosswinds Cornelia website. With a new segment on the BT-13 mid-air collision that claimed Cornelia's life on March 21, 1943, Crosswinds dispels myths that have persisted for years about the cause of the tragic accident. The BT-13 featured in Crosswinds is owned by the National WASP WWII Museum in Sweetwater, Texas. Andrea McGilvray, WASP Museum BT-13 pilot, flew the warbird to Oshkosh where it was on display for the entire week on Boeing Plaza. The annual Oshkosh aviation celebration set another record this year with more than 730,000 people in attendance.

July 8, 2026 - Stories 250 will launch a Crosswinds podcast in advance of the showing of its documentary, Crosswinds: The Courageous Life of Cornelia Fort at the 2026 EAA AirVenture on Wednesday, July 22 at 2:30 p.m. in the Skyscape Theater at the EAA Aviation Museum in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. The podcast will focus on the new in-depth analysis of Cornelia's BT-13 crash on March 21, 1943 that tragically claimed her life. For years, rumors have swirled that male pilots were doing barrel rolls over Cornelia's BT-13. Leslie Sargent, retired FAA inspector who is also a trained accident investigator and the Crosswinds aviation consultant, has analyzed the crash from evidence in the official U.S. Army accident report. The evidence does not support the rumors. The podcast will be posted on the Crosswinds website. 

June 17, 2026 - Stories 250 was recently at the Steamtown National Historic Site in Scranton, Pennsylvania to cover Union Pacific's 'Big Boy 4014' national tour to honor the nation's 250th birthday on July 4, 2026. Big Boy is a massive steam locomotive that was built in 1941 and immediately put into service during World War II. Today, it's the largest steam locomotive that is still operable. Union Pacific spent five years restoring the locomotive to her glory at their steam shop in Cheyenne, Wyoming. On June 15 and 16 in Scranton, approximately 60,000 people came to view the locomotive. While there, Stories 250 interviewed Megan Stevens, Steamtown's public information officer. Steamtown is administered by the National Park Service.
