May 31, 2026 – On June 1, Stories 250 is launching a new section to keep readers informed about current events. The new “Stay Current” section will include stories of current events that have historical relevance. In June, Stories 250 will feature its coverage of Union Pacific’s “Big Boy” steam locomotive that will, for the first time in its history, travel east of the Mississippi River. Honoring the nation’s 250th birthday, Big Boy 4014 is touring the nation this summer. On July 4, the massive locomotive, manufactured in 1941, will be in Philadelphia where the Declaration of Independence was adopted on July 4, 1776.
